New Forest Bike Project

 New Forest Bike Project CIC is a  not-for-profit registered community interest company that provides;

1.     Bicycles, free or heavily subsidised for local people in need, and at local market rates to the wider public.

2.     Help in teaching bike maintenance and cycling skills.

3.     A wide range of new and reconditioned used parts and accessories to help keep people and their bikes on the road at an affordable price

4.     Support for (re)cycling and sustainability issues in the New Forest.

Our workshop is in New Milton and we serve the New Forest and East Dorset area. Unwanted bikes can be donated and we refurbish them or salvage parts to help fix others.

Beneficiaries of the project are all ages, backgrounds and abilities but NFBP aims to target those people on low incomes or those that may suffer disadvantage in their lives. Not everyone can afford a shiny new bike or knows how to maintain and ride them safely. Poor public transport and rural isolation can exacerbate issues for some local residents. NFBP aims to help such people by giving access to good serviced bikes and equip them with the skills to stay on the road safely, gain independence, to keep fit and improve their well-being. We host regular volunteers who help in all aspects of the project.

Sustainability is also central to what we do. NFBP is driven by the desire to improve sustainable practice whilst reducing our impact on the environment; not only through using cycling as a means of reducing car journeys and pollution but by lessening the amount of waste (e.g. bikes) that end up in landfill.

If any residents need a bike or want to learn how to fix their existing one (we run regular sessions), or have an unwanted one to donate, please do let us know, we’d be happy to help.
